Camera Shaped Accordion Books

Camera Shaped Accordion Books

The 7th and final week of our Explore Photography Workshop at Hillsdale Preparatory School featured a “scrap booking” project where students assembled examples of black and white film, cyanotype contact sheets, photographs of the camera obscuras made during the first workshop, salted paper prints of plants, and instant color photographs into accordion books fashioned to look like cameras!

I love that Oliver found photos of his siblings (and one of me!) to include in his book. 🙂  And that another student intrinsically used photo montage techniques when he cut his head out from a print and placed it into a new context against the last page of his accordion book!  No photoshop – just scissors and lots of tape!

Thank you to HPS and to the parents and students for making this first workshop series possible.  Many thanks to Lorie Dickinson for her help with the workshop lessons and thanks to the mothers who were willing and able help as well!
