I have been preparing for my next media arts workshop series at Hillsdale Prep. The series begins Thursday, February 23rd and includes a total of three free after school workshops.
The workshop title, “Delights of Seeing” is inspired by a Walker Evans (famous documentary photographer, 1903-1975) quote in which he states, “…the matter of art in photography may come down to this: it is the capture and projection of the delights of seeing; it is the defining of observation full and felt.”
Walker Evans suggests that photographs are tangible expressions of how each person sees; they are objects imbued with personal experiences, knowledge and perspective.
The “Delights of Seeing” workshops will guide students through some of photography’s most unique technologies used to see and document what and how photographers see the physical world. It will include experiments with paper negative photography, stop motion photography, and stereographic photography.
